This weekend has been pretty great already.
My sweetheart husband stopped by a garage sale on his way home from work and got me several dresses, shirts, scarves, shoes, a baker's shelf for the kitchen, and a mini bookcase for our room. Sixty bucks! Some of the clothing still had tags on them. I am feeling so loved and pretty. <3
Negi pooped in the potty for the first time ever. This is after months of fighting us and refusing to go anywhere but in a diaper or (in extreme cases) his underwear. Eventually we resorted to bribery+encouraging independence-- Eric bought a Minecraft set and put it on top of the fridge and he would get to pick one figure out should he be successful on the potty and not before; I put the little seat on the toilet and made sure the step-stool was in front of the toilet; and we waited. He freaked out and said he was very nervous and kept asking for a diaper, but we didn't budge. Eventually he flew into the bathroom and thirty seconds later was very happy and calling for me to wipe his butt. I think that was a glimpse of my future.
Last night Eric and Izzy fell asleep for the night at 5 PM. I fed and bathed the older boys and put them in bed and they promptly fell asleep. It was 8:15 and I was the only one awake. AWESOME.
This meant that Eric and Izzy woke up for the day at 1:30 AM. Eric played WoW while I slept and Izzy watched Despicable Me 2. We've had so much more time together than we usually would, even on a day off.
I cleaned out the car! Goodbye, McDonalds and Arby's leftovers! With the new budget we rethink eating out and have found creative things to eat at home instead, and if we do go out we make it count.
It's a GORGEOUS day out! Yay Michigan weather!
I actually got up the courage to make the call to get a second garbage can so we can start cleaning out the garage and basement of Sister A's stuff (used to live here but moved away and left 70% of her stuff here). It was delivered Thursday and is already well worth the awkward but surprisingly easy 5 minute phone call.
Tax refund, which was delayed because we are poor for our family size (because those are totally the people who need the money delayed eh), was updated to be deposited midweek next week! Can't wait to pay off a couple of bills entirely and then continue our rhythm of The Responsible Adult Budget.
Everyone is in a great mood, the kids played outside and got exercise, and I'm happy. I hope you have a lovely weekend, too!
